Pictures

I am finally getting on the internet. Everyone I know lives in a tent or something just above that status, so we don't have the internet. I went to the public library three days in a row and the internet has been down each day. So I sucked up and decided to pay $2 to use the internet cafe. So I can finally get some pictures on here. This first picture is of the Rocky Mountains on the airplane to Alaska. It was so beautiful. I have crossed over the Rockies in Colorado, but I had never seen formations like these. I have since learned that is because they are caused by the glaciers compressing the land, which forms what looks like paved roads! Crazy.

The next picture is of around the town of Skagway, which is surrounded by glacial mountains. It truly is beautiful here. Although I love it here, it is also very windy. I was hoping for a warmer summer, but it has been pretty cold. I feel like I didn't bring enough long sleeve shirts. And I have found that the weather changes really fast. Storm clouds come in fast and then it is raining, or all of the sudden the wind stops and it feels kind of warm. I still wear flip flops on most days, so that is a good thing!

I really love it here. I think a lot of people come to Skagway to get away from their lives for a little while. I truly needed to walk away from my routines, because since I have been here, I have barely spent time thinking about my past relationship. I enjoy all the friends I have made. And I have some fun roommates. It is really setting out to be a fabulous summer! Has anyone taken a trip to get away? Where did you go? I'm sure I can always use another place for next summer!

Those pictures are smashing. I get to see snow only when we trek in the Indian Himalayas. But after walking and slipping on it, I feel it is not such bad thing to not have it around. I am told driving is also very difficult after snowfall.

I wonder if I will ever get to see Alaska.
