While I was in England, my friend's parents offered to take us to York for a day trip. None of us realized that we would be venturing to York on one of the busiest days of the year. It was St. Nicholas' Day. Every store was buzzing with business and the streets were crowded to the max. It took us about an hour to find a resturant to eat breakfast, because every place was full. I think everyone else had the same idea as us, because they we trying to get out of the cold rain.
After enjoying a delicious English breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, potatoes, toast, and hot chocolate it was time to stroll around town. We couldn't have planned it any better, because the rain stopped for the rest of the day. We walked in and around York Minister, Queen Elizabeth's favorite Cathedral. Then we wandered around the city limits looking at the old city wall, the river, and strolling through the Christmas market. I ate roasted chestnuts for the first time in my life too.
I really enjoyed the day, but would have preferred small crowds. I practically had to hold onto Brit boy just so I wouldn't lose him or his family. I had no idea how to get back to the car! If you ever make a trip to England and you are thinking of places to visit, I recommend a short stop in York. There are old streets, called the Shambles with narrow walkways and overhanging tudor-style houses. It is quite picturesque. I've included the few pictures that I took while walking around the city.

Tracey, you should of called by my house! I only live 30 mins away from York. Superb city, so glad that they have kept the cobbled streets!
Well, Darren, if I had known you were there I would have stopped by for a cup of tea! Why didn't you invite me sooner? You know it really is a great city, and I didn't spend enough time there. Actually I didn't have enough time anywhere. And my posts have been so short lately, that I'm not even doing the places justice either!
Wow sis!...you have yourself a lot of readers. I would love my blog to get that point but considering the random nature of it I highly doubt it. Love ya, Amy
Tracy, let me know when you're back in the states. We need to play.
