I was so excited to take my trip to Southern California, because I was going to see my college roommates. I knew that we were reflect on good memories and enjoy the update on one another's lives, however, I didn't know that I would be faced with the option of new love. I found myself getting close to a handsome young man. I had no desire to cheat on my boyfriend, but could I be blamed if there was someone who took my breath away from me? Actually, I have to blame my friend Jenny and her husband Collin, because they introduced me to him. Right after I got off the plane our eyes locked.
At first he didn't know what to think of me. In fact, there was silence in the car. I was worried, did I look funny? Maybe I smelled bad? Although we had a bad start, the sparks flew over dinner. I knew we were going to be friends for the rest of my week spent there. In fact, I had a feeling we would be spending a lot of time together, but I didn't know that I was going to fall in love with him. It must have been the way that he said my name or the fact that he gave the best hugs. I was smitten. He made me want to have children!
If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm talking about Jenny and Collin's cute son, Calvin. It has been almost two years since I had been out to California and at the time Jenny was pregnant, so I was really excited to see their little bundle of joy. He was so cute! I couldn't help but love him instantly. I feel like the proud auntie. Whenever I talked with my boyfriend over the phone I was telling him stories about little Calvin. I even told my Boulderin' Boyfriend (that's going to be his name) that Calvin was going to be my new man!
I was so thankful that Jenny and Collin let me stay with them for the week so I told them that I would be like the nanny for the week. Surprisingly though, I didn't realize how much fun it was going to be. That's because Calvin is the cutest toddler I have ever met. He is learning how to talk right now and he is full of words. Not only has he already learned his alphabet, but he can tell you the name of dinosaurs and practically every important Star Wars character. Collin is a big fan or the series so he is teaching Calvin at an early age. In fact, he not only does he know how to say Darth Vader, but he can even give you sound effects for the light saber. And he knows his animals, plus their corresponding sounds. I wouldn't say his is a genius, but it was amazing to see how quickly he was learning. My goal was to teach him a dirty phrase, but all he got from me was the word, "somebody."
Spending time with a child and experiencing unconditional love was a true blessing. I look forward to the day when I will have children. He was truly a highlight to my trip! Luckily for you, there is more to report and I will be posting again!
