Singapore Zoo

One of my last days in Singapore was spent at the zoo. I don't normally go to zoos when I travel, but every book I read had suggested a trip to the Singapore zoo. I will admit that it was far better then the zoo in Washington, DC but I don't think I would recommend it. In my opinion, if you have seen one zoo you have seen them all. My experience in Singapore was no different. If I had a group of children with me then it would definitely have been more fun. Although, I must admit I was entertained by the humping monkeys. I even got to see orangutans kissing up close and personal. The following are pictures are from my field trip at the zoo.

Oh, I just LOVE the Elephant family playing ring around the rosey together. They are so sweet.

elephants are so smart and wonderful. I've read that they have a very heightened sense of family and loyalty to their loved ones. For example, if a wild elephant has been killed by a poucher, the family members will lay by the dead body and actually CRY!

That was a sad example. But, really, I think we can sometimes learn a lot from animals like elephants.

Those are fantastic pictures! How fun to watch the kissing animals. All I've ever seen in a zoo is a monkey try to pee on my friend. Never kissing. :)

Momo- I hate to disappoint, but the elephant family is actually a statue at the entrance of the zoo. It is really cute though. I do agree with you about them being special creatures, and we can learn a lot from them.

HP-Thank you about the pictures. I like the kissing animals too. It almost looks like the male is whispering to the female saying, "hey, let's see if she'll take a picture when we kiss!" It was a good day, besides the insane heat!

I love the tiger at the very end. A long time ago (at least it seems like a long time ago) I took a picture of a white tiger with its reflection in the water. It's one of the first pictures I posted on my blog.

I almost went to the San Diego zoo the other day, but ran out of time. :(

CP- I will have to check out your blog to see that picture. You know, I like the picture of the white tiger too...thank goodness for digital cameras so I knew I got it just right!

Dav- It is too bad you couldn't have gone...I went to Utah this past weekend and I flew out of Baltimore. I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool if Dav was on the same flight working? But alas, I only had women flight attendants!
